National University of La Matanza - UNLaM

About Us:

IIt was through Law 23,748 of 1989, enacted on October 23 of that same year, that the National University of La Matanza (UNLaM) was created. It is a public university located in the suburban area of Buenos Aires, specifically in the town of San Justo, La Matanza, Argentina.

Since its foundation, UNLaM has experienced sustained and exponential growth. Today, it has a student population of nearly 80,000 students. With a faculty of more than 3,500 and an academic offering of over 60 undergraduate and graduate programs, the university plays a transformative role in its community. More than 80% of its graduates are first-generation professionals, making UNLaM a key driver of upward social mobility in Argentina.

UNLaM is composed of seven departments—Law and Political Science, Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences, Engineering and Technological Research, Health Sciences, Architecture and Urban Planning, and Dentistry—and three schools: the School of Arts and Media, the School of Postgraduate Studies, and the School of Continuing Education. These academic units cover a broad spectrum of disciplines, including law, political science, international relations, economics, business, accounting, engineering, computer science, health sciences, architecture, urban planning, dentistry, education, communication, journalism, design, and audiovisual arts.

The University continues to invest in infrastructure to meet the needs of its students and the broader community. It features cutting-edge facilities such as a 2,100 m² Technology Center, a clinical simulation lab, a sports complex with a semi-Olympic swimming pool and athletics track, and a fully equipped courtroom. Currently, UNLaM is building a residence hall, a primary health care center, and is finalizing construction of a new building for the Department of Dentistry.

Through partnerships with universities and organizations across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, UNLaM fosters academic mobility, intercultural collaboration, and global engagement. In recent years, participation in international initiatives has expanded significantly, including Erasmus+ mobilitiesvirtual exchange programs (such as COIL and mirror classes), joint research, and international academic seminars.

As one of the most important and inclusive universities in Greater Buenos Aires, UNLaM is committed to academic excellence, social equity, and international cooperation.
